September 25, 2011 A Grief Observed

I traveled this past week for the first time since Hannah’s illness & death which was extremely weird and emotional. Not a long trip but being gone for even one night seemed like forever while bringing back loads of memories from the past.

A good friend of mine gave me a book awhile back from CS Lewis called A Grief Observed which chronicles his thoughts and struggles after the death of his wife to cancer. I read it on the plane which helped the time fly by when flying….

Very emotional and thought provoking book especially for someone like myself who is in the midst of grieving. Some of his thoughts were my thoughts and others weren’t which was surprising.

One main thought of his that hit home with me was this:

“You never know how much you really believe anything until its truth or falsehood becomes a matter of life and death to you”.

This is and was so true for us! Jesus was with us before, during and after! He is Truth! Period.

Father God, Lord Jesus & Holy Spirit – I don’t understand a lot of the time and know your ways are higher than ours so I simply place my life and the life of my family in your control and know that in the end, we will be together forever!

Thank you! Bill
